Patapsco Valley State Park

Actually extending along the Patapsco River Valley for 32 miles, this park has everything including recreation
areas, fishing, canoeing, hiking trails, hunting, riding trails, picnic areas, nature study,
mountain biking trails, and more.
There are two major entrances in Catonsville:
- The Hollofield Area at U.S. Route 40
- The Hilton Avenue Area via Hilton Avenue off of South Rolling Road.
- Catonsville Off-Leash Dog Park

Located next to the Westowne Elementary School on Harlem Lane this recently proposed 350-foot
by 50-foot fenced in grassy area will give man's best friend some room to run around and socialize.

- Benjamin Banneker Historical Park
300 Oella Avenue - 410-887-1081
This park pays tribute to the African-American astronomical, mathematical, and agricultural
pioneer Benjamin Banneker who lived most of his life in a one room log home in Southern
Baltimore County.
The park tells the story of Banneker’s life by showing characteristics of the life
of a free black in the 18th century and provides a wonderful means of enjoying the parkland
while preserving the existing environment. The park includes a small and interesting musuem.
- Catonsville Community Park
501 North Rolling Road - 410-887-0959
Located next to the Catonsville Senior Center this park is a great community park
that includes tennis, baseball fields, volleyball, swing sets, slides, and
wooland trails.
- Lurman Woodland Theatre
Catonsville High School Grounds (Bloomsbury and Hilltop) - 410-747-7419
The Lurman Woodland Theatre is a non-profit community park operated under the direction
of the Catonsville Recreation and Parks Council. It frequently hosts concerts and other
interesting events during the summer months.
- Westview Park
Gilston Park Road and Chesworth Road
A nice park that includes a fitness circuit, baseball fields, and climbing structures.
- Western Hills Community Park (also referred to as Woodbridge Park)
Crosby Road and N. Rolling Road
A large size neighborhood park that has climbing structures and baseball fields. This park plays host
to many EDRECO baseball games and serves the neighborhoods of Woodbridge Valley and Westview Park.
Recreation Centers/Groups
- Catonsville Badminton Club
2301 W. Edmondson Avenue (Catonsville Middle School Gym)
This Club uses the 3 indoor courts at the Catonsville Middle School and currently
plays every Sunday, 7:30-10pm, during the school year, from September through May.
Members range from age 12 through 66.
- Catonsville Recreation and Parks Council

A non-profit volunteer organization that works in coordination with the Baltimore County Dept of Recreation
and Parks on local facility schedules and policies.
- Catonsville Senior Center
501 North Rolling Road - 410-887-0900
Operates Mon-Fri 9am-4pm and on Thurs until 8:30pm
A great facility for active seniors that includes a computer lab, exercise programs, art and ceramics classes,
needlework activities, billiards, ping pong, softball, music, a variety of dance activities, and much more.
Additionally health programs and screenings are made available and other services, including mid-day meals, help
seniors to remain healthy and independent. Volunteer opportunities are also available for any interested persons
of any age.
- Christian Athletic Association (CAA)

Currently the CAA has sports programs that include soccer, basketball, floor hockey, indoor soccer, and baseball.
The CAA also has a home-school gym program. Most activites are available to children from age 5 and up and are
run on a seasonal basis. Call for free information.
- Edmondson/Westview Recreation and Parks (EDRECO)

- Friends of Patapsco Valley State Park
Provides charitable gifts to assist efforts to enhance the Patapsco Valley State Park's environmental and
educational qualities for public benefit.
Local Area Swimming Pools and Clubs
- Catonsville Community College Swimming Pool
Off of South Rolling Road, PDC Building - 410-455-4197
Located in the Physical Development Center (PDC) this pool is open to Alumni and the
general public during specified 'free swim' hours. Additionally aquatics classes are also available on
a continuing education enrollment basis. As the schedule changes each semester it is best to call
for open hours.
