There are a wide variety of things to do and see both in the immediate Catonsville area and in the surrounding areas of Baltimore, Ellicott City, and Columbia. This guide is meant to be a quick reference to help both local residents and outside visitors to the area. Things to Do in Catonsville Starting in the immediate Catonsville area there are both indoor and outdoor activities depending on what you're in the mood to do and of course if the weather is cooperative.
For outdoor recreation you can find a rich variety of things to do at the Patapsco Valley State Park
(depending on just how adventurous you are). During the warmer months, odds are pretty good something
interesting is going on at the Lurman Woodland Theatre. If you're interested in a little
exercise you could also visit one of the local golf courses or swimming pools or check out a local recreation group.
There are also many other smaller community parks located
in Catonsville along with other recreation activites. For you're covienience they are broken down along with various other recreation information
under the Parks and Recreation section.
Perhaps however you're not the outdoors type, if this is the case your first inclination might be
one of the most typical means of entertainment, catching a movie. Two major theatres service
Catonsville and showtimes and other information are on the Movie Theatre Listings page.
If movies aren't you're thing you could also check out the Pullen Museum or the Banneker Museum
for a more historical perspective. However, don't forget there are a variety of local shops in the "village" along Frederick Road
as well a plethora of businesses to patronize along the Route 40 corridor of Catonsville.
Additionally you could also cheer on a local College Sports team or other local sports event.
Still More to See and Do Close By If you still haven't found what you're looking for, don't fret because, as previously mentioned, Catonsville is right on the doorsteps of Baltimore and Ellicott City as well a quick jump to Columbia. If you're in the mood to check out the area music scene, you're in luck because Baltimore is overflowing with local 'hangouts' where you can check out many of the up-and-coming local bands or even participate in a Karaoke show. For the more discerning taste there are also many incredible concerts to enjoy. The opportunities don't stop there because Baltimore is also rich with play and theatre productions, museums, and more. If your looking for more action you could head downtown to Baltimore and join thousands of screaming fans at one of the many area sports events or you could even go duckpin bowling. If sports aren't your thing, no problem! There are a multitude of shops, places to eat, tourist attractions, and much more in Baltimore's famous Inner Harbor, Fells Point, Little Italy, and other locations around the city all of which are a convenient drive from Catonsville. But you don't have to go to Baltimore for shops and musuems because the quaint and historic community of Ellicott City has a great shopping and dining section located in the historic section near the old Mill close to the Patapsco River. Additionally there is a small B&O Railroad Station Museum for the railroad enthusiast in your family just as you cross into Historic Ellicot City over the Patapsco River. Jump over to Columbia and you'll find a more modern community with even more to offer in it's own right. In Summary... There are endless possibilities! Whatever it is you're looking for, Catonsville is usually convenient to it. Below are some links to entertainment information in and around the Catonsville and Baltimore area.
